Travelling Around Copenhagen

The train network in Copenhagen can take you across the capital and further into Denmark. With the metro system that connects inner-city stops with the airport, our rail network is the easiest and fastest way for commuters to travel around.

Use the 4 metro lines and DSB network to travel around. If you are commuting regularly from Denmark to Sweden, the DSB öresundståg train can take you there in no time – unfortunately the DSB Commuter Card only covers Copenhagen city zones, not commutes across borders. Nonetheless, we can still make your commute as smooth as possible with a great range of ticket options.

There’s also a good bus network you can take to reach suburban areas of Copenhagen and extend your train journey.

Commuter Travel Within Copenhagen

Unlike the Copenhagen card, which enables unlimited travel and includes admission to various attractions around the city, the DSB Commuter Card is made with regular workers in mind.

To buy the card, you can visit us at the Copenhagen Central Train station, or you can use our app. It’s simple to use.

  1. Tell us where you are travelling to and from.
  2. Choose how many zones you will be travelling through on your commute (this will determine the cost).
  3. Tell us how long you’ll need the card for – at least 30 days.
  4. Enter your payment details and you’re finished!

Your card will be valid for the journey to and from your desired destination, through the zones you selected. You can check the app to remind yourself when the card is set to expire and make sure you buy a new one.

If you commute to work regularly in Copenhagen or are planning to visit Copenhagen as a tourist for a prolonged time (more than just a 2 week holiday), then the commuter card is your most cost effective ticket option.

The Best Places to Eat on Your Commute

Whether you’re travelling for business or leisure, spending your commute on the train network makes for hungry and thirsty work. Try these 3 great places to refuel.

Street Kitchen, Copenhagen Central Station. Take a small walk down Bernstorffsgade by the central train station to find the Street Kitchen. A great way to grab some food on the go. Vegetarian options available!

Café 8 Tallet 2011, Nørreport Station. A cosy and intimate cafe that you can find just a few steps away from the entrance to the Nørreport underground station on the M1 and M2 metro lines.

Havnehytten Café & Bistro, Copenhagen Airport Terminal 2 Train Station. If your plane is running late and you fancy a walk before you enter the airport, take a 15-minute stroll to this friendly cafe and bistro. We highly recommend trying one of the milkshakes, especially in the summer.
